Hi, I just wanted to intruduce myself, my name is Bob and my wife is Mary. I'll be 76 soon and DW is 73. we have been married for 53 years, have 4 sons, 2 daughters, 10 & 8/9 grandchildren ( one due in 3 weeks) 5 girls and 6 boys and 1 greatgrand son 5 Months old. Mary was sent by our Nerou to U of Michigan and was diagnosed with AD. They said she didn"t need to have the 4 hour Cognative testing, they already knew. She has had a minor stroke, 2 tia's and a heart implant to stop clots from sneaking to the brain. No trouble since implant.

I nervous about all this because I don't how to really handle all this, it new even though I thaught she had signs of this a long time ago. I guess you can be bling or in deniel which I guess I am.I have many things I have to figure out and not much time to do it. Nice to meet you all, Joyce said you guys are the best. Bobt33

Hi Bob,

When something crops up, bring it to us and we will help you figure it out together, if we can. Chances are, someone has/is going through the same thing and can offer support.

You don't have to feel alone in this. My folks are gone now but I still hang around because I really like it here (and because no one has booted me out yet:)).

You wife is very lucky to have you in her corner to look out for her. Knowledge is your best defense in this thing. And don't be surprised just when you think you know the answers, the questions all change. That's the cruelness of AD. We are here for you, just breath and take your time with this. We are all in this together.

Hi Bob,

I'll be home next Monday,. I will stick around until probably the first of May, then I'll head back up north. Give me a call and let me know when you feell up to company. Maybe I'll just drop in unannounced, you never can tell. Do I have to bring my own tea when I come?

I'm glad you came here for some support because that's one thing the people are good at.. Many here have finished the journey as caregiver for their LO. But they are still here to help others.

I'll see you when I get home.

Bob, take it from the voice of experience, if you and your wife haven't already taken care of all of the paperwork and legalities. Start now and get it down quickly. My mother wouldn't listen to me or do anything to take of health directives or POA or anything. Now we are in a mess. Take it one step at a time but please get it done. Your kids will love you all the more for being prepared.

Bob, unfortunately none of us are ever prepared for what comes with this disease. For most of us it was just on the job training. Just know that we are here for you. You can ask questions, share how your day is going and even rant when you need to.

Ditto to Linda's advice too.

Welcome to the boards, Bob.

We are here to help and we are here to lean on each other as we go on our journeys with our LO's.

Like Lori said, ask, rant, read, learn, etc.
