Hello there everybody! I am new to this forum, and have been informed by KellyL to join. I was on the Alz.org site, but sometimes it seems way to huge! Sometimes I would get lost in the messages and not know where to go.

Let me tell you a little about myself. I am married to a DH, with 5 children. My Mother, Ruth, has Alzheimer's and is currently living with us. She moved in around September, because my sister moved to another state. We felt that it would be better if she moved in with us.

It hasn't been too horrible yet, although we have had some rough times. We have gotten more answers about Mom's condition than she was getting when she lived with my sis. No offence to my sis, but she worked 12hr days and didn't have a lot of paitence or time for Mom, so Mom is better off with us. She gets round the clock care, and we never leave her alone, especially with the children.

Well, that is about all I can think of to write for now, as my brain seems dead! Look forward to getting to know all of you better!

Pollie,
Welcome to our forum, and now yours also. You will love it here. It is filled with people of experience and compassion and humor. And our administrator Aitan, and monitors Carol and Lori, keep this a really safe place for us.

Please let us know what we can ever do for you. All our brains die once in awhile, I know mine does quite often. But just read for now, and the questions will come to you sooner than you think.

And you don't have to just talk about your Mom and AD. Many times it's not our loved ones that we need answers about, but also how our children and spouses are handling this awful disease.

Come here and vent when you feel you have to let something out. You'll be surprised at the reaction of "I know how you feel" comes out very often. Most have been through it all.

Read Younghope and Carolyn519 posts. They have AD, and give us so much insight on what our loved ones are going through. And don't be afraid to ask them personally any questions you may have. They are both very willing to always answer.

Again, welcome. And come back to us often.

Jackie

Welcome Pollie. I'm sorry you have to be here but glad you found us. If you have any questions or just need to vent, we are here for you. No one will judge you here. Chances are, we have all felt the same frustration. Caregiving isn't for sissies. It's hard work and total dedication. We all walk this journey together. Take care.

I am so happy you found us, Pollie (way to go, KellyL!!).
This is a close-knit group of cyber-friends, linked together
through AD in one way or another. Many are hands-on
caregivers, like you and your family. I only lasted 3-4 months
as a hands-on caregiver before placing my Dad in an ALF
located a mile away from me. I continue to be an active
participant in managing his care, but it's not the same as
those who are on the actual front lines. I have a wealth
of respect for all those of you who are there.
Be sure to check out our Creative Outlet at the bottom of
the Index. You can have SkyGirl, or Patricia, or Snickers
or any one of our graphically talented members build you
your very own dream house in Hope Village, where there
is no pain, no AD, and no regrets. You can have them
grow you a field of your favorite flowers or make a
sophisticated arrangement in our Garden of Friendship.
Members also share poems, pictures, jokes, and other
personal items there. I find it gives my heart great peace
to wander through a couple of my favorite threads there
once in a while.
Aitan, our moderator-host, has a medical background and
is involved in the care of his grandmother, with AD. I believe
he is the heart-and-soul of our little home here.
Please feel free to post, vent, share, laugh, or cry here
any time. We aren't as big as some other sites, but we are
a pretty attentive bunch.
Carol

Hi Pollie,

So glad you made it here, I kept checking to see if you did and missed you somehow until today!

Welcome, these are super neat people, I feel so blessed to have them give me such great advice and such kind encouragement when I'm down. When my children and I were praying for Jackie's husband this morning I couldn't help but think what did people and what DO people do who don't have all these people and resources to turn to when they are caring for their LO's with AD? Yikes, a scary prospect.

Welcome again, I know you will be encouraged.

~Kelly~

Thank you Kelly for all of your support! It is great to have others who will help out, simply because they are going through the same things as we are! I look forward to many new times to chat with you and get to know all who are on here! You are right, it does seem much more relaxed and easier to navigate than on the other site.
Well, I need to go, as it is late, but may the Lord bless you and keep all of your loved ones and you safe tonight!
