Hi there. I'm Ann. My mother is currently living in a care facility and has been diagnosed with dementia, probably AD type for several years. As I tell my story more, some of you may remember me from the other list that many of us have been part of. Mom's symptoms have been increasing lately and her physical health status declining ever so gradually. I felt like I needed to once again come to a spot where people understood the struggle.

Thanks for letting me read and be part of the community.

Annaberry,

Welcome to our forum. Yes, we do understand the struggle. Come here anytime to talk. We may not seem as active as the other, but I can almost guarantee you, if you need a shoulder, or an answer, or just to vent, we will all be here for you. We have many experienced members who have lost their loved ones, that stay here with us to help and support us. They are wonderful for doing this for us. And of course there's us who still are going through this journey. We won't let you do this alone.

Let us know what we can do for you.

Jackie

Hi Ann, and welcome. My Dad is in a care facility, too. Anytime
you want to vent, compare notes or experiences, or just laugh (ya gotta
check out Creative Outlet and some of the funnies), come and visit.
I'm so glad you found us.
Carol

Thank you for the hellos. Most of the time I do well enough. I work with adults with severe mental illness, so I'm used to seeing 'odd' behaviors, but coming from my mother they have a different impact, you know? The tipping point to getting reestablished to a support community came this week when I handed Mom a tissue and reminded her to cover her mouth when she coughed and she instead put the whole tissue in her mouth. Mom's lost much of her affect most of the time so it's hard to tell if she was joking or not, but it seemed so totally out of her character even for joking.

I'll continue to read and poke around the site. :)

Hi Ann, wishing you a warm welcome. Keep us posted on your mom's condition both physically and mentally. I'm sure many of us will have input, and will learn from what you and her are going through.

Hello and welcome Ann,

I'm sorry I missed your introduction when you posted in July, life has been more than crazy lately. I'm in Oregon too, the Willamette Valley, Jeri is too.

Glad you found this site, I really don't know what I would do without these wonderful people, I'd be pretty scared watching the crazy things my mom does, but they help me understand it, as much as one can understand AD.

Come here anytime you need anything.

Take care,

~Kelly~

Thank you Kelly. I did notice your Oregon location, as well as Jerri's. From what I've read, we all seem to live in the E/S-Willamette Valley area. Maybe we should get together sometime. :)
