I had no idea how to title this but.
I spent the day at the VA Hospital Thursday with my neighbors from up north. I saw notices about a new thing for Vietnam Veterans. If you served in Vietnam during the period they were using agent orange and have heart disease, you may be entitled to a disability pension. There are other diseases but this was the one that got my attention because this neighbor does have heart problems.
Call you VA office and ask them about it, the girl we talked to there said that it was pretty much a sure thing without much run around.
I had never heard of this but thought someone might find it useful. Just tell them you want information on the Viet.Nam/agent orange disability pension.
I hope someone can benefit from this.

Hi, Joyce!

We found out that my Brother was qualified for a disability pension from VA, based on:

"(1) total and permanent disability; (2) military service during a "time of war;" and (3) income below specified limits. Also unlike Compensation, the disability for pension purposes does not need to be service connected."
Unfortunately, he passed away, before the claim was filed.

I found a link to the VA Benefits for Veterans, Dependents and Survivors:
http://www1.va.gov/opa/publications/benefits_book.asp

AND, specifically for Agent Orange:
http://www.vba.va.gov/bln/21/benefits/herbicide/AOno1.htm
(There is a link, within this article, to the list of diseases)
